BarkBox September 2015 Review

image

BarkBox promises to contain 4-6 dog treats, toys, and occasional hygiene products that are unique from anything they’ll ever send in later boxes.  They hold extremely high standards for all the edible items, sourcing only from USA, Canada, South America and New Zealand. Inside this month’s “Bedtime Story” themed BarkBox:

  1. Butcher’s Block Contender, Retail $4  (Made from top grade American born & raised angus… Bubb loved this treat! He has loved everything from the Butcher’s Block brand.)
  2. Delca Lamb and Kale Treats, Retail $8  (Hearty lamb is the first ingredient in these treats… Bubba usually likes lamb, so maybe it’s the kale that he doesn’t like,… because he didn’t want anything to do with these!!)
  3. Organicfuls Chamomile, Honey & Duck, Retail $8  (Packed with omega-3’s and duck, Bubb ate these… but I can tell they weren’t his favorite.)
  4. BarkMade Frank the Frog Prince, Retail $14  (This toy is SO adorable …the rope legs pull through the frogs body, making it an interactive toy!  Be warned… the squeaker inside is so powerful, that the toy should come with ear plugs LOL.)
  5. Think! Dog Hans the Dragon, Retail $11  (This dragon is made with chew guard technology fabric, which makes it super durable. This is one of Bubbs favorite toys right now and I’m happy it made it into this months box!)

Bubba loves his new fairy tale character toys!

$45 Total value and 5 items in this box.  I paid only $19 for it, with my 6-month subscription.  Bubb only liked 1 of the 3 treats this month, but both toys were durable enough to outlast his play time!

I give the September 2015 BarkBox 3 paws.

BarkBox August 2015 Review

BarkBox promises to contain 4-6 dog treats, toys, and occasional hygiene products that are unique from anything they’ll ever send in later boxes.  They hold extremely high standards for all the edible items, sourcing only from USA, Canada, South America and New Zealand. Inside this month’s “Summer” themed BarkBox:

  1. Butcher’s Block LLC Steer Stick, Retail $3  (American born & raised angus, slow roasted for 3 days… Bubba loved this chew!)
  2. Bocce’s Bakery Chicken Treats, Retail $10  (Made from all natural and human grade oat flour, chicken, pumpkin and rosemary… Bubba eats these treats, but I can tell he doesn’t love them.  I think it’s the pumpkin… as he isn’t usually a fan of pumpkin flavored treats.)
  3. The Crump Group, Inc. Beef Tendersticks, Retail $8  (Made from 100% beef… OMG Bubb gobbled these tendersticks right up!  I would definitely order these for him.)
  4. Harry Barker Rope Fire Hydrant, Retail $12  (The fire hydrant was a cute dog toy idea, but sadly it was not very durable.  Within an hour he chewed through the hydrant, tearing apart the rope and it had to be thrown away.)
  5. Delca Corporation Watermelon, Retail $11  (As you can see in the photo below, Bubb chewed through the corner of this toy, very quickly, giving him access to the stuffing inside.  I took out all of the stuffing and he played with the toy for another couple of weeks before it had to be thrown away.)

image

$44 Total value and 5 items in this box.  I paid only $19 for it, with my 6-month subscription.  Bubb is happy with new toys either way, but I’m always disappointed to receive toys in the box with low durability… especially when I subscribe to the large breed Bark Box. I’d pay a little more for longer lasting toys or would rather only 1 durable toy over 2 toys that last an hour each.

I give the August 2015 BarkBox 3 paws.

BarkBox July 2015 Review

BarkBox promises to contain 4-6 dog treats, toys, and occasional hygiene products that are unique from anything they’ll ever send in later boxes.  They hold extremely high standards for all the edible items, sourcing only from USA, Canada, South America and New Zealand. Inside this month’s “Circus” themed BarkBox:

  1. Butcher’s Block LLC Trachea Chew, Retail $3  (This has been in several other boxes… but that is OK because Bubb loves them… SO much, that I actually bought a large bag of them from my local grocery store.)
  2. Nootie Hickory Bacon Jerky Chews, Retail $10  (These were also in the May box and Bubba did not like them.  So I’m not too excited to see these as a repeat item.)
  3. BarkMade Chicken Biscuits, Retail $8  (Bubba likes these heart-shaped treats… Healthy Dogma custom made them for BarkBox pups.)
  4. FabDog Circus Ticket, Retail $12  (This toy wasn’t very durable… Bubba punctured a hole in it within hours and I had to take all the stuffing & squeakers out.  As a stuffing-free toy, it has lasted longer!  It’s still around the house and is a go-to toy for Bubb right now.)
  5. BarkMade Circus Elephant, Retail $13  (Eugene the elephant is such an adorable toy!  His headpiece was the first to go… Bubb had that removed on day 1… as well as the tail and ears… and shortly after that, …the trunk.  This toy had medium to light durability for my rotty.)

image

$46 Total value and 5 items in this box.  I paid only $19 for it, with my 6-month subscription.  I was a little disappointed to see a repeat item in the box… especially one that Bubb doesn’t like.

I was also a little surprised by the circus theme, with all the constant media over mistreated circus animals.  I haven’t been to a circus since hearing of the animal cruelty and unacceptable living conditions that go on behind the scenes of circus troupes such as Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey.  Do your research before you decide to buy circus tickets!!  I refuse to fund the abuse of animals and so should you!

I give the July 2015 BarkBox 2 paws.

BarkBox June 2015 Review

BarkBox promises to contain 4-6 dog treats, toys, and occasional hygiene products that are unique from anything they’ll ever send in later boxes.  They hold extremely high standards for all the edible items, sourcing only from USA, Canada, South America and New Zealand. Inside this month’s “Intergalactic” themed BarkBox:

  1. BarkMade Flying Saucer, Retail $12  (Although this toy was super adorable, it majorly lacked durability.  Bubba punctured through to the stuffing in a matter of hours.)
  2. West Paw Tizzi, Retail $18  (BPA and phthalate-free, non-toxic, floatable, recyclable AND made in the USA… this toy is worth every penny of it’s $18 value!  It’s interactive, in that you can hide treats in the center hole and twist the handles together to challenge your pup!  Bubba quickly learned there was a hidden surprise and untwisted the handles with slight ease.)
  3. Barkworthies Lamb Lung, Retail $8  (Bubb devours these treats SO fast!!  They are low in fat, high in protein and packed with vitamin A.  I will likely re-order these!)
  4. BarkMade Space Rover Bandana, Retail $7  (Bubb is not a big fan of playing dress up, but with treats I can persuade him to wear something long enough to get an adorable picture of him, that I will cherish for years to come!)

image

We put peanut butter in the West Paw Tizzi toy, which Bubb is contently nomming on in the photo above!

OMG, Bubba is SO cute and ready for blast off in his BarkMade Dogsplorer Bandana in the photo below…

image

$45 Total value and 4 items in this box.  I paid only $19 for it with my 6-month subscription.  I love this month’s “intergalactic” theme! Bubba liked everything except for the bandana… but I feel like that was more of a gift for me LOL, since I enjoyed seeing how incredibly precious he looked!

I give the June 2015 BarkBox 4 paws.

BarkBox May 2015 Review

image

BarkBox promises to contain 4-6 dog treats, toys, and occasional hygiene products that are unique from anything they’ll ever send in later boxes.  They hold extremely high standards for all the edible items, sourcing only from USA, Canada, South America and New Zealand. Inside this month’s “Garden Pawty” themed BarkBox:

  1. Healthy Dogma Whitefish Barkers, Retail $8  (Bubba did NOT like these!  He started to eat it, but promptly spit it all back up and wouldn’t touch it again.)
  2. Butcher’s Block Trachea, Retail $2  (This is always a win with Bubb.  He’s had them before from the BarkBox and I’ve re-purchased them because he loves ’em so much!)
  3. Nootie No Grainers Jerky Hickory Bacon, Retail $12  (Bubb eats these, but I can tell they aren’t his favorite, because it takes a while for him to eat one.  He doesn’t typically like bacon flavored treats… and that’s probably because we spoil him with bites of real bacon, when we have it!)
  4. R2P Bumblebee Silly Bum, Retail $7  (This bottom half/ bum of a bumblebee is actually a cute dog toy & lasted a few days before Bubb finally broke through to the stuffing. On a durability scale of 1 to 10, 10 being super durable, this toy was a 4 for my Rotty.)
  5. P.L.A.Y., Inc. Large Butterfly, Retail $15  (I thought for sure that this butterfly toy would last 24 hours or less, but it’s proven to be quite durable!  It’s been just over a week since we’ve given it to him and for the most part it’s still intact. He did chew one corner and we had to take the squeaker out on day 5… but it’s impressively held up great & is still safe for him to play with!)

image

As BarkBox promised, this bumblebee bum toy buzzed its way right into Bubba’s heart!

image

image

I knew the butterfly became a favorite when Bubb adorably cuddled it during a nap.  OMG he is just SO cute!!

image

$44 Total value and 5 items in this box.  I paid $19 with my 6-month subscription.  I love this month’s “garden pawty” theme …BarkBox always comes up with the cutest phrases on the info card… this month:  “No mixing tea time with pee time” LOL!  Even though Bubba only liked 1 of the 3 treats, the value of what he did like was still more than what I paid …and the smiles on his face are worth every penny!

I give the May 2015 BarkBox 4 paws.

BarkBox April 2015 Review

image

BarkBox promises to contain 4-6 dog treats, toys, and occasional hygiene products that are unique from anything they’ll ever send in later boxes.  They hold extremely high standards for all the edible items, sourcing only from USA, Canada, South America and New Zealand. Inside this month’s Fitness themed BarkBox:

  1. Planet Dog Diamond Plate Ball, Retail $12  (Over a month later and this toy is still 100% intact!  It is extremely durable and has ridiculous bounce… Bubba really loves this toy!)
  2. TurboPup Complete K9 Meal Bar, Retail $5  (This is a perfect for when you are on the go with your pup during meal time.  Made with 100% natural, human grade and American sourced ingredients,… Bubb seemed to really enjoy this and left no crumbs behind!)
  3. Sojo’s Simply Lamb, Retail $10  (Bubb likes these freeze-dried lamb treats, but they are small pieces… not ideal for treating a 75-lb rottweiler, so I usually give him a few at a time.)
  4. Etta Says Elk Chew, Retail $3  (Bubb has had this before… these chew sticks are some of his favorite treats.)
  5. Kyjen Tuff Guys Mat, Retail $2  (A “tuff guy” toy whose muscles squeak and crinkle… such an adorable toy for this fitness themed box!  It lasted a few days before he started pulling the “muscles” out, I would say it has a medium durability level for my heavy-chewer rotty.)

image

$32 Total value and 5 items in this box.  I paid $19 with my 6-month subscription.  I love this month’s fitness theme …and Bubba got all pumped up over his new toys and treats!

I give the April 2015 BarkBox 4 paws.

BarkBox March 2015 Review

image

BarkBox promises to contain 4-6 dog treats, toys, and occasional hygiene products that are unique from anything they’ll ever send in later boxes.  They hold extremely high standards for all the edible items, sourcing only from USA, Canada, South America and New Zealand. Inside this month’s Movie Night themed BarkBox:

  1. Pet Qwerks Pawpcorn, Retail $10  (Bubba chewed a hole in this toy in 5 minutes, exposing all kinds of stuffing and crinkle liner that is bad for him, so I had to throw it away.  I love the dog themed spelling & how adorable it is for the movie night theme… but sadly it’s not durable at all for my Rottie.)
  2. Nature’s Bits Salmon Recipe, Retail $8  (Made from fish, fruit and veggie ingredients sourced 100% in the USA, Bubb approves of these.)
  3. Butcher’s Block Dynamo, Retail $3  (Hickory smoked and made from beef shank & arm bone, Bubb Loves this!! This was a great addition to this month’s box because it’s sure to be a long-lasting tasty treat for my Bubba.)
  4. Healthy Dogma Bacon Hearts, Retail $8  (These gluten-free bacon treats are made in Michigan and provide omega-3 fatty acids and lean protein.  Bubba loves these heart shaped treats.)
  5. BarkMade Flexi Dog Bowl, Retail $6  (This is manufactured with food-grade silicone and is freezer, dishwasher and oven safe.  I actually almost bought this from the BarkShop, so I was excited to see it included in this box.  It’s perfect for picnics in the park with Bubb!)

image

$35 Total value and 5 items in this box.  I paid $19 with my 6-month subscription.  I love this month’s movie night theme, since one of my favorite things to do is nuzzle up on the couch with my fuzzy cuddler Bubba and watch TV!  However, I wish the pawpcorn toy was made to be more durable, so that is the only reason for my less than perfect rating.

I give the March 2015 BarkBox 3 paws.
