Neutrogena Hydro Boost Duo, Water Gel & Eye Gel-Cream Review

Hydrated skin,… is happy skin!

I bought this duo at my favorite go-to place for beauty products… CVS! I will typically use CVS store promo coupons to get the best deal, but at full price, the 1.7 oz water gel is $19.99 and the 0.5 oz eye gel-cream is $19.99.

I don’t like to go the cheap route when it comes to my face & eye creams… because taking care of your skin by staying moisturized and protecting it from the suns harmful rays are key to looking younger than you are!!  I’d say these are medium-low in price, because there are definitely some pricier options out there… especially if you are considering the high end beauty brands at department stores!

“The unique water gel formula absorbs quickly, like a gel, but has the long-lasting, intense moisturizing power of a cream.”

I would absolutely buy this Hydro Boost duo again!  It’s oil-free & lightweight… and quenches my thirsty skin, by locking in the hydration all day long.

I give this duo 4 paws!

Ipsy Subscription Review

Does a girl really NEED 12 new cosmetic bags a year?!

An old coworker was raving to me about this monthly subscription… and of course I’d heard of it… but never tried it because for the last year and a half I’ve been getting the monthly Birchbox subscription.

I decided to cancel my Birchbox subscription after 2 years, so I signed up for the Ipsy glam bag… after I was enticed with a bonus mascara for signing up LOL. I’m such a sucker for a freebie!!  I cancelled the Ipsy glam bag subscription after only 6 months… and here’s why:

  • I only liked 50% of the bags… I thought the January, March an April bags were hideous and so I gave them away.
  • There is no ‘how-to’ info card, to explain the products… or how to use them.  This was a big deal to me… because the extent of my make-up knowledge is mascara, eye-liner and lipstick.  I don’t experiment or do anything crazy with my make-up regimen… but I might if the glam bag included an info card like the Birchbox… or a how-to guide with tips… like I’ve heard the new Sephora Play subscription includes.

January 2016 glam bag:

February 2016 glam  bag:

March 2016 glam bag:

April 2016 glam bag:

May 2016 glam bag:

June 2016 glam bag:

The February and June bags are pretty adorable… and my favorite of the 6 bags!

I liked about 80% of the beauty products I received in the glam bags… which is an okay percentage.  I paid $10 a month, which isn’t bad to discover new beauty products… and some are full size!  A lot of great beauty brands included also…  I just wish there were tips on how to use the items in the glam bag.

I give this monthly subscription 3 paws.

Kardashian Beauty, Stroke of Midnight Mascara Review

image

I bought this Kardashian Beauty “Stroke of Midnight” mascara (love the clever name!) in #402 Ultimate Black for $9.99 at CVS.com.  I used a coupon I received for “30% off total online purchase at CVS.com”, which dropped the price to only $7.  I purchased a different Kardashian Beauty mascara in a CVS store about a year ago and loved it, …but sadly I can’t find that specific one in stores or anywhere online.

This is a pretty great “every day” mascara.  It doesn’t give a va va voom voluptuous look of falsies, but it does create a stellar voluminous natural look.  The brush is designed fabulously because the mascara doesn’t clump at all …and it separates my lashes perfectly so that it looks like I have twice as many!  I would absolutely buy this mascara again… and I may buy it quickly so that it doesn’t disappear forever like the other one!

I give this product 4 paws!

L’Oreal Voluminous Miss Manga Mascara Review

image

This new L’Oreal mascara, “Voluminous Miss Manga”, has a 360 degree flex brush designed to give the ultimate open-eye look that was made famous in the Japanese comics known as Manga.

The model in the L’Oreal magazine ads for this mascara, is adorable with her wide-eyed gorgeous lashes… however mine did not turn out that way… not even close!  I purchased this mascara, in “Blackest Black”, at CVS for $7.99 and have been testing it over the past month.  I didn’t care for the flex brush because it made it harder for me to control the brush pressure against my lashes and form them the way I wanted.  I have naturally long lashes, but they have zero curl.  I would apply it several times, attempting to achieve the “Manga” look… I even used an eyelash brush because the result was less than desirable… and every time the outcome was the same.  It clumped my lashes together & created big gaps between the clumps  … I was unable to achieve the voluminous effect.  I will not be purchasing this L’Oreal mascara again.

I give this product 1 paw.

Revlon, Bold Lacquer by Grow Luscious, Mascara Review

image

I received this Bold Lacquer Revlon Mascara in “Blackest Black”, in a Style Box from SocialBliss.com, and they gave a retail value of $8.  I found it online at walmart.com for $5 (if you want to brave that store LOL) and at drugstores for between $6 and $8.

The packaging claims this mascara will add length and volume to your lashes… and I beg to disagree!!  I think the brush design is bad, first of all.  The bristles seem to be too close together, so much so, that the mascara can’t even get to the bottoms of the bristles!  The Mascara clumps up in patches all over the brush… leading to a Very difficult application process!  I’ve been testing this periodically over the last few months… with the same result.  It takes several minutes to achieve an eyelash look I am satisfied with… (precious minutes in the morning I need to spend doing more productive tasks!)  Secondly, the “volume” must have been left out of my mascara tube LOL, because after many many coats… I can finally tell there is even mascara on my lashes!  My lashes are already fairly long,… but they have zero curl to them… so I test the limits of my eyelash curler every morning and rely on a good mascara to hold the curl and add the volume.  This mascara simply doesn’t do that for me.

I give this mascara 1 paw.

Stila, Stay All Day, Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner Review

image

I love myself a liquid eye liner… and this one does not disappoint!  I bought this at Sephora for $20 and have been “testing” it out for some time now & love it!  It really does “Stay all day”.  Although I have not tested the “waterproof” claim… I have teared up while watching a Hallmark movie or two over the holidays LOL… and the liner hung in there perfectly!

There are 15 color options available, but I don’t experiment too much with color liner… I stick with the blackest black.  In this case, it’s “Intense black”.  It has a flexible pointy tip that is great for precision and it goes on SO smooth!  This is very similar to a Maybelline liquid liner I was using for a third of the price… but there is one big difference… the Maybelline liner did not last all day!  It would eventually smudge off.  As of now this Stila gem is my go-to liquid eye liner of choice!!

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara Review

image

I discovered Too Faced “Better Than Sex” mascara from a sample I got in SocialBliss.com’s ‘The Style Box’.  I loved it SO much that I purchased this full size from Sephora, for $23.  For me, that is a lot to pay for mascara when there are some other pretty great options for half the price…but,… I was getting married and treated myself to the best mascara my lashes have ever seen!

It is an intense black with an hourglass shaped brush that volumizes like I’ve never seen!  After applying, It looks like my lashes tripled in quantity and doubled in length!  It is very easy to overdo it with this mascara, so only 1 to 2 coats are needed to get that voluptuous look.  I wear this all day… and at night it looks exactly the same as when I applied it in the morning!  I also love the name of this mascara… it’s clever & cracks me up LOL!!

I give this product 4 paws!
