PopSugar Must Have July 2016 Box Review

This is my 16th PopSugar Must Have box and review.  This is “a monthly delivery of fabulous surprises, curated by PopSugar Editor in Chief Lisa Sugar”.  The July 2016 Box contained the following:

  1. Sachajuan Hair in the Sun, Sugg. Retail $32  (This shampoo claims to protect hair from damaging UV rays and keep hair color vibrant.  I will test this out in the coming months and let you know what I think!)
  2. House of Pom Emoji Cocktail Napkins, Sugg. Retail $25  (I love these!  Exclusively designed for PopSugar… these Super cute, summer themed emojis are washable… so they are the ‘green’ way to serve up your drinks!)
  3. Michael Stars Porcelain Skinny Scarf in White, Sugg. Retail $30  (I’m not a fan of a scarf that is not worn for warmth purposes… I will be gifting this or selling it.)
  4. Pintrill Pineapple Pin, Sugg. Retail $12  (I love pineapple themed items… but pins… not so much.  I will also be gifting or selling this.)
  5. SunnyLife Inflatable Swan Drink Holder, Sugg. Retail $18  (My favorite item in the box! I recently saw this on Pinterest and thought it was the cutest thing I didn’t need… but had to have LOL.  I’m over-the-moon that this made it into this months box! I wonder if it will hold a wine glass?!  LOL!)
  6. European Wax Center Oh My Brow! Brow Highlighter in Pearl, Sugg. Retail $19  (This highlighting illuminator claims to be the “jack of all trades”… and can be used to lift brows, widen eyes, add glow to cheekbones or add a romantic touch to lips.  I am excited to try out all 4 options and report back my findings! Look for this review very soon.)
  7. Joe Chips Classic Sea Salt Retro Potato Chips, Sugg. Retail $1.49  (I love crunchy kettle chips… and these are no exception.  Mmmmm!)
  8. Trove $20 Gift Card  (Special Extra!  Cute, simplistic jewelry collection at troveup.com …but even with the $20 off… you will still be spending $50 or more.  A little pricey for me, for the minimalist product line… I most likely will not be using this gift card.)

$157 approximate Total value!  I pay $39.95 per month, which includes free shipping.  At no additional savings, 3-month and 6-month purchase options are also available.  This has been one of my favorite monthly subscription services, because they always deliver great products at an amazing value!  However… I am going to take a break from PopSugar Must Have, to try out some new monthly subscriptions.  I of course will still check out mysubscriptionaddiction.com every month… because I wont be able to resist seeing what I’m missing out on!

Again, I highly recommend this subscription, so if you want to give it a try, use code REFER5 for $5 off and sign up here:  http://popsu.gr/vrbQ

This is my 14th PopSugar Must Have box and review.  This is “a monthly delivery of fabulous surprises, curated by POPSUGAR Editor in Chief Lisa Sugar”.  The May 2016 Box contained the following:

  1. Bluma Project Capri Bracelets – Set of 2, Sugg. Retail $44 (Guatemalan artisans handcrafted these with glass and 24 kt gold beads.  Haven’t decided yet if I will keep these, re-gift them… or sell them on ebay.)
  2. Kocostar Foot Therapy, Sugg. Retail $10  (I almost bought this in a store just days before getting this PopSugar box… so you could imagine my surprise to see it tucked inside!!  I am so excited to use this… so look for my review on it very soon!)
  3. Spongelle Spongology Body Buffer, Sugg. Retail $20  (This body wash-infused sponge, designed to cleanse, exfoliate and massage… should last at least 20 washes. It made the whole box smell delightful & I love the concept of this item!  I will scrub up and post my review!)
  4. Gaiam Foldable Yoga Mat, Sugg. Retail $24.98  (I needed a new yoga mat, so I love that this was in this month’s fitness & relaxation themed box!  It’s ultra-lightweight and compact… and the blue hue is a PopSugar exclusive.)
  5. Happy Spritz Breathe Deeply, Sugg. Retail $25  (This spray, made with peppermint and eucalyptus oils, misted over your face or on your yoga mat… claims to naturally invigorate and soothe you.  I will test this out… with my new yoga mat of course… and report back!)
  6. JimmyBar! Peanut Butter Clutter Clean Snack Bar, Sugg. Retail $2.49  (This bar is gluten-free, dairy-free and made with no artificial ingredients… I ate it, but didn’t like it very much.)
  7. Hint Kick, Sugg. Retail $1.69  (Special Extra in the box! Infused with 60mg of caffeine and lightly flavored with black raspberry, this zero calorie drink also has zero sugar and zero diet sweeteners.  #1 ingredient is purified water!  I love water so I don’t need flavored water to want to drink it.  I think flavored water has a weird after taste and this one is no exception.  Quality product, I’m just not a fan.)
  8. Half Hitch Goods $10 Gift Card  (Special Extra in the box!  I doubt I’ll use this… didn’t really see anything that peaked my interest when browsing the website.)
  9. Revlon Volume + Length Magnified Mascara, Sugg. Retail $8.99  (Special Extra in the box!  Mascara… my main go-to make-up item… I’ll let you know soon, how it stands up against my favorites!)

$147 approximate Total value!  I pay $39.95 per month, which includes free shipping. At no additional savings, 3-month and 6-month purchase options are also available. 1. Hudson+Bleecker Labyrinth Onyx Travel Trio, Sugg. Retail $42 (I have SO many travel bags, so I didn’t really need any more… but this trio would be perfect to pack intimates, toiletries and shoes separate from my clothes.)
  2. Kris Nations “XO” Stud Earrings, Sugg. Retail $35  (OMG I love these earrings!  So simple and adorable… and my favorite item in the box!  They are cut from recycled brass and plated with 14k gold.  Also included was a 20% coupon for a future purchase at the brands website… which I fully intend on using… this brand has great jewelry!)
  3. Too Faced Cosmetic Brow Envy Brow Shaping & Defining Kit, Sugg. Retail $39  (I was blessed with low maintenance, full, brunette eye brows… so I don’t know that I will benefit from this kit… but I will test it out and see!  Also included was a 20% coupon for a future purchase at the brands website… which I will use to buy my favorite mascara “better than sex”… if you haven’t tried it… read my 4 paw review on it, under my “eyes” category!)
  4. Briogeo Rosarco Milk Reparative Leave-In Conditioning Spray, Sugg. Retail $20  (This conditioning spray contains argan, rose hip and coconut oils that claim to act as a barrier against heat, for healthy, smooth locks.  I will test this out and post a review soon!)

PopSugar Must Have May 2015 Box Review

image

This is my 2nd PopSugar Must Have box and review.  This is “a monthly delivery of fabulous surprises, curated by POPSUGAR Editor in Chief Lisa Sugar”.

  1. Sisters of Los Angeles Surf Sand Love Beach Towel, Sugg. Retail $40  (Cute beach towel, and in Florida… one can never have too many… But… it feels more like a $20 towel.  It’s not over-sized OR thick, super-soft cotton… qualities that warrant me spending $40 on a beach towel!)
  2. Middle Kingdom Mini Plum Vase in Coral Red, Sugg. Retail $20  (I’m not a fan of the coral red color of this vase, since my home decor is on the other side of the color spectrum… greys, black, white, blue and green.  But… this would make a great gift, so I’ll put some fresh flowers in it… and brighten someone’s day!)
  3. Kitsch Tri’d & True Y-Shaped Necklace, Sugg. Retail $32  (My favorite item in the box!!  I love Y-Shaped necklaces because they are perfect for layering… and this one is simply adorable with the triangle charm at the end of the silver plated 36-inch chain!)
  4. Sage & Row Bare Shave Cream, Sugg. Retail $17  (I’ve actually been on the hunt for a new shave cream, so I’m excited to try this out.  Look for my review on this in the near future!)
  5. Batiste Dry Shampoo, Sugg. Retail $4  (Dry shampoo is all the craze right now, so I’ll be testing out this cherry scented travel size to see what all the buzz is about!  Look for my review on this in the near future!)
  6. Hammond’s Candies McCraw’s Flat Taffy, Sugg. Retail $1  (I don’t like taffy… but my hubby sure does!  He could barely contain himself, anxiously awaiting a taste, while I staged the photo for this blog post LOL.  He gobbled it up in minutes and said it was yum!)

$114 Total value.  I paid $112.19 for a 3-month subscription, which includes free shipping & $5 off, using coupon code: REFER5. That is just $37.40 per box!!  1-month and 6-month purchase options are also available.  To me, the best part of this subscription box is that I’m getting introduced to brands and products I didn’t know existed.. at really great prices!

Hyper Pet Gnarly Gnaws Duck Dog Toy Review

image

I’m always on the lookout for durable dog toys for my precious Bubba!  He is SO spoiled… It’s very difficult to find toys that are not only able to withstand his crazy strong bite… but also brand new toys I’ve never bought him before LOL.  My most recent trip to Marshalls was a complete success in the dog toy department… I bought 7 toys in total!!  This one was only $4 …a great deal, compared to the $10 price tag I found for the same thing online.

I like to keep new toys stashed away in his mini 2-drawer dresser, so I’m able to surprise him with a new toy when he’s destroyed an old one… or been extra good!  Just seeing his face light up when I go to that drawer is so priceless …he gets all excited and tries to shove his face in and snoop around… it’s incredibly adorable!

image

This Hyper Pet duck is a “plush interactive squeak toy made of multitexture high performance materials”, with “edge binding for durability”.

image

Although Bubb punctured the multitexture material and edge binding in just under 48 hours… that’s not too bad for a $4 toy!  I’ve seen him do a lot worse to $10 – $20 toys in half the time!!

image

This little ducky had medium durability for my Rotty, but it made him super smiley nonetheless.

I give this dog toy 3 paws!

Darby Smart To DIY For April 2015 Box Review

image

My 3rd Darby Smart “To DIY For” monthly kit arrived! YAY!!  I signed up for the 3-month subscription and paid only $28 total for it because there was a promotion of 1-month free!  That is under $10 per monthly DIY kit… such an amazing deal! Regular pricing is $19 per month, $114 for 6 months or $199 for 1 year.  If you love to craft and create… I highly suggest you visit DarbySmart.com.  This month’s project was “Create Your Own Perfume” and included the following:

  • 2 perfume glass bottles
  • Perfume plastic dropper
  • Grapeseed Oil
  • Cucumber melon scent
  • Geranium scent
  • Lavender scent

I held onto this project for a few weeks, so that my mom and I could make this together on Mother’s Day.  I thought it would be a fun/ unique idea… and it was!  It was a very simple craft, given that we only had 3 scents to work with.  I wish now that I had purchased a few extra scents, bottles and more grapeseed oil, so that we could have really had some fun with it and experimented!

One setback,… It was very hard to control the cucumber melon & lavender “drop” recommendations into the perfume bottles, since we were unable to use the dropper with those types of bottles.  The first bottle we made was predominantly cucumber melon with notes of geranium and lavender… it came out OK… so we added a bunch more cucumber melon and it smelled better.  We both preferred the cucumber melon fruity scent over the others, so we decided to make the 2nd one, my moms, using only the cucumber melon.  We liked it!… It’s a nice, light, fresh scented oil perfume.

image

Although I wish we had more options, as I stated earlier… we still had fun and it was a perfect mother/ daughter craft that neither of us had attempted until now!  I used nail polish to paint a floral design on my mom’s bottle.

Now whenever we spritz ourselves with our scented oil creations… we’ll be reminded of this marvelous Mother’s Day!  Make a note to try this out with your mom for Mother’s Day next year… but order lots of scents and extra supplies!

I give this DIY box 3 paws.

The Container Store, Battery Storage Organization, Before and After

image

Although my batteries were all contained in one drawer,… they lacked serious organization and it’s really been bothering me lately! My solution?… I went to The Container Store of course LOL. My haul, pictured and detailed below:

image

  • (2) AAA battery storage containers, at $1.49 each
  • (2) AA battery storage containers, at $1.99 each
  • C battery storage container, at $2.49
  • D battery storage container, at $2.99
  • 4″ x 6″ Iris photo case, at $2.49
  • 8″ x 8″ Iris project case, at 6.99

image

Now all of my batteries are organized separately by size, …with the 4″ x 6″ case for misc. sized batteries, like the button cells, 3-volts and 9-volts.  All of the little containers fit perfectly into the 8″ x 8″ project case!  I spent a total cost of $21.92 plus tax on this project… a small price to pay to be able to easily find batteries when I need them and know which sizes I’m running low on… to keep a sufficient stock, especially with hurricane season right around the corner!

I give this simple DIY organization project 4 paws!
